CLASS 06/04 CMH 4B MOBILE ROLE IN HOTEL DISTRIBUTION

Today it’s a strategy of distribution use by hotelier to up grade the sale Marge of their revenue. Also known as The mobile internet reservation.
After research here are 2 channels for mobile hotel distribution among many others

The link to first one:
http://www.jounaldunet.com/0505/050504/ouvrehtetels.shtml

The link to second one:
http://www.jounalaldunet.com/0609/060919-fastbooking.shtml

How does it work?

The hotelier will have to work in collaboration’s with internet distribution e.g. FastBooking, Hotwire hotel, etc… Search engines like Google, Yahoo etc…

How does a hotel participate?

By providing to the customer the possibility to make the choice of destination, dates, number of clients, the category of hotel, the choice of single, double, triple, extra bed etc… and make it easy for the customer to pay with his bank card. The hotel has to make sure that updates are respected in terms of technology to follow up in the constant improvements, the search and the traffic of clients will not be too hampered.

Will Google lead the way…really?

Google the leader of search engines in the world their growth is very tremendous and they don’t irritate their user with adverts, since 2003 that they took off its still growing up “it is a Revolution”
They made a very big difference from all the other search engines out their; over 100 of different language ,variety of service research like Google earth, will be more important through our mobile phone just name it will be their on your phone yes to me they are leading the way far ahead.

FINAL EXAM ARTICLE – CONVERSATION WITH CUSTOMERS

1. What is meant by social sharing sites? Link to 2 examples.
It is the time of internet marketing; the strategy is to present latest trend and tactics available to customers today.

Examples:

(a) Hotel & lodging trends which help to find market research/analysis on the hotel & lodging industry http://www.marketigresearch.com

(b) Hotel view corporation which provide internet multimedia advertising for the hotel industry by providing video tours for their internet web sites, service are provided to the travel industry
http://www.hotelview.com

2. How do SS influence consumer’s choices? Link to 1 article to support your assessment.
Consumers as for now “our days” they want qualities so if the quality of service and value for money, providing with substantial evidence customer will go for it.

Example:

I am a holidaymaker looking for a place to go at a low budget. I saw/read in the internet recently that www.FastBooking.com is the leader in providing holiday package with value for my money.
Then with no energy or time wasted I will go for FastBooking.

3. How hotelier can best utilize social sharing trends to communicate with customers? Link 2 to examples.

By making use of the best, well known, easy to use site, as much as possible, search engines in the internet and it must correspond to their hotels.

Examples:

As I used in the first part of my exams that if my hotel is
http://www.kubehotel.com/kubehotel.html
My reseller site/advertising agencies will be
http://www.advengardehotels.com/

I will also make use of http://wwwgoogle.com

4. My opinion is that yes hotels can effectively establish an online conversation with customers but it will not be a live/direct media cause of time factors for international hotel, External/ Internal factors, seasons, price issues etc…

MOBBIL TRAVEL GUIDE

After reading a classmate ‘s work Do Duy Linh this article is very interesting actually to me I do not think Mobil Travel Guide is 56% the best hotel guide rating on the website because if so, what will you say of Travelpost.com or Hotel.com and they target customer who are used with just typing single word for their search.

SEM/SEO (Search Engine Market/ Search Engine Optimization) they make use of goggle or yahoo.

Travelpost.com will be on their page number1 which to me save time and works very well than that of Mobiltravelguide.com and it’s not that easy to use or remember the name.

For travellers who are looking for the best guide rating hotel in internet, will not use firstly and easily mobiltravelguide.com. for it’s not that popular like priceline or Travelocity, which are known for best rated guarantee sites to lure customers from aggregator sites.

TOPIC: ‘IT’S TIME TO THINK GREEN’ BY MR JIM BUTLER
(Author of www.hotellawblog.com)

This article informs us about the need to improve our environments with the new hotels that are being built today.

As I one’s said in class that we are the generation of qualities rather than quantities wish was the time of my parents; we are more interested in security of the product we use and not to forget that it has to be environmental friendly.

“What’s a green hotel” meaning green building, the materials are Eco friendly, the paints are non-toxic, if the system of energy is low, the building involve in recyclable or reusable materials etc.

To me it a very interesting article and gives me ideas for future concept. As it was said I think it’s time for us to think green all the time.

MEDIA IMPACT ON DESTNATION POSITIONING-ENOUGH OF THE BASHING, ENGAGE THEM by J. Ragsdale Hendrie

Communication includes the exchange of information between two or more parties. It can be carried out by different type of medium or various media platforms through a particular destination.

Presentation, the subject of communication can break itself into pieces of some of which include what we say, how we say it, where we are saying it, when we say it and how we choose to deliver the message to.
What we read, hear, see, sense and visualized are all influenced by the presence of media in our environment. Media has been in existence since creation and it has evaluated with nature and has gone through so many transformations until today.

Mostly the print media are moving frantically towards electronic delivery of news, events, advertising, music, cinema, Art, etc… understanding that how we receive information and how we choose to analyse these has changed dramatically.
Hospitality businesses have come to understand these, as have their representatives. The internet is now the most important type of media and the article informs us about the impact of media on Destination Positioning. My point of view is that the media is more of Andy Warhol; a good example is to take a look at the synergy of YouTube and google. View my link

This kind of agreement is called Horizontal Integration. This company came to agreement due to the fact that they wish to sell their product in numerous markets, so this is a kind of solution to them.
AFTER READING A COMMENT MADE BY A CLASSMATE ON ANOTHER CLASS MATE’S WORK.

ANNA GODEFROY to MALANIE. I am commenting my point of view on her article. To me, I do not believe that “FTF will always stay the most powerful, wherever technology goes” quoting ANNA GODEFROY.

It will not stay powerful cause let face fact and reality today technology example video conference, web came, fax, email, phoning etc… are very important, vital and a convenient way to for hampered workers in the business world, not to talk of the spaceman using technology (web came) not FTF for month to communicate.

If I understood what Melanie wrote about her article very interesting, it’s not about the fact that people preferred FTF and FTF stay powerful, because there is no way for sure that we know how the customers made their booking directly for it can be by phone call, mailing, faxing and probably by FTF so to me FTF can’t stay powerful.

DOUBLETREE EXPANDS CANADIAN PORTFOLIO WITH FULL-SERVICE HOTEL IN THE PROVINCE OF QUEBEC.

After reading This article about Doubletree Plaza Hotel Montreal celebrates 30years of hospitality with brand affiliation and a major Multi-Million-Dollar Hotel wide Renovation brings me back to “the top ten issues in the hospitality industry for 2007. I agree with this topic due to the fact that I am a Gen-X with different tastes and preference that is changing as I am aging. Now the GenX, the GenY, Millenniums, “Seniors” wants quality more than quantity. We are more “Ecomateur” making sure our environment is safe, not polluting, more economic use of energy etc… and if we take a look at this new splendid hotel from a different angle.

The” workers” then I will talk about “The Labour and Skill Shortages” it can be very difficult for the hotel to employ and retain a. qualified staff. It can be a big challenge for this kind of industry or any type of industry. Also I saw and read another topic “Innovation in Hospitality and Tourism by MIKE PETERS the information got from this book is very interesting. I can see/ understand the measures of product , service effect, work in hand or contributes to its objectives.
